CONGRATULATIONS! I'm still doing a happy dance. :)

DeleteThose pajamas are going to fall off if you keep dancing like that.
DeleteI'm not complaining, just saying...
Gosh, you're so modest, Mark. Huge congratulations! You deserve to crow about it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Joanne, I really am happy about it although the feeling that comes first to mind is "surprised"--especially after the last few bouts. Thanks again.
DeleteFaith alerted us ... and I am delighted by the news. I'm too inhibited to prance around in my pajamas, but I will have some egg nog.
ReplyDeleteHats off to you!
Vijaya
Thanks Vijaya, Faith has been doing enough dancing for four people so don't worry about it.
DeleteCongratulations on a truly well-deserved win, Mark! Your work was fabulous. I really enjoyed it -- you have a wonderful talent for being able to get so much story into 500 finely-tuned words. And your characterization is amazing! The pig-woman, her sniveling husband-on-a-leash, Mr. Jaspers, and his obnoxious self-absorbed principal were all unique, memorable, and so easy to emotionally connect with, whether positively or negatively. You really have a knack for creating characters!
ReplyDeleteI loved the blend of intrigue, story-questions, and humor you were able to get into such short snippets of writing.
Congratulations again, and I wish you tremendous success as a writer!
Thank you so much Chris, and congratulations! Every writer needs something like this from time to time to remind them to keep trying. This came at a good time for me, and I hope Write Club has inspired you in the same way. Look forward to working with you "behind the scenes" next year!
DeleteCongrats to you, Mark. A well deserved win. I don't expect you to have trouble getting a career as a writer if you deliver plot and story arc the same way you deliver original characters and voice.
ReplyDelete(And thanks for voting for Sedney's Barkers when you did!)
Thank you David. Your opinion was one I always checked back after each bout to see. Your grasp of the entries was always spot on.
DeleteMark, I had to come over to say congratulations! I very much enjoyed all the pieces by Snivvy Crank. I loved the Pig Woman. I loved the janitor. You have a very strong voice, and I'm kind of hoping you might share the background on your entries in a later post -- the way Chris did. I'm curious.
ReplyDeleteSorry it's taken me this long to make my way here, still getting my blogging feet under me. As I've been telling everyone, WRiTE CLUB lives and breathes via the quality of the submissions, and this year was exemplary! Your work rose to the top of some OUTSTANDING writing samples, and you should be very proud! You have a writing future ahead of you...if you choose it.
ReplyDeleteCongrats again!! :)
Alright -- Faith said you need some kick-starting, so consider this a well-aimed boot in the psyche! Please update us on the stories!!!!
